The muscles in the back provide support for the head and the trunk of the body. It also creates strength in the trunk of the body allows for flexibility and movement. The upper back provides the structural support where as the lower back allows for flexibility and movement in bending (It does not provide support for twisting). When developing the back muscles, the upper and lower back should be worked on proportionally. Fitness Drive has broken up the Back exercises into 3 groups below; Upper, Mid, and Lower Back.
