The muscles in the Chest provide support for any activity that requires pushing. It not only creates a nice physique but it also assists in shoulder and arm strength. Keep in mind that adding more muscle to your chest adds more weight compressing on your heart and that Cardio workouts should be used in conjunction with the development of the chest.
